In juni vorig jaar werd de OPPO Find X onthuld, een unieke smartphone. Het was de eerste full-screen smartphone van de Chinese fabrikant, om tot een beeldvullend ontwerp te komen moest er gebruik worden gemaakt van een uitschuifbare selfie-camera. Helaas lijkt dit nog niet de meest optimale oplossing te zijn.
Concurrenten als Samsung en Huawei kiezen bij hun nieuwste modellen dan ook voor een punch-hole camera, oftewel een gat in de display, waarachter de selie-camera geplaatst wordt. Mogelijk dat OPPO in 2019 voor een oplossing zal kiezen waarbij de camera onder de display wordt geplaatst.
OPPO smartphone met punch-hole camera
Op 18 januari 2019 zijn er een tweetal Chinese patenten opgenomen in de Global Design Database van de WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office). De design patenten getiteld ‘Mobile phone with app icon interface’ zijn aangevraagd door OPPO Guangdong Mobile Communications en tonen een full screen OPPO smartphone met een punch-hole camera.
De selfie-camera wordt in de linker-bovenzijde van de display geplaatst. Links en met name rechts van het camera-gat zal OPPO verschillende app iconen tonen. In totaal worden er vijf pictogrammen getoond, waarvan één voor de front-camera.
Zo kun je op elk gewenst moment direct de camera-app starten, maar ook andere apps. Door een swipe-beweging te maken aan de bovenzijde van de display worden de icoontjes zichtbaar, je kunt door de iconen heen scrollen, het camera-pictogram blijft vanzelfsprekend altijd op dezelfde plek staan.
OPPO is niet de eerste fabrikant die verschillende mogelijkheden rondom de punch-hole camera onderzoekt. Zo heeft Samsung bij de A8s gekozen voor een geanimeerde weergave rondom het gat voor de selfie-camera, deze wordt in de toekomst waarschijnlijk uitgebreid met een tweede displaygebied. Mogelijk wordt dit al bij de Galaxy S10 doorgevoerd, deze high-end smartphone serie wordt volgende maand verwacht.
Nieuwe OPPO smartphones op MWC 2019
OPPO is voornemens om haar nieuwe vlaggenschip telefoon te voorzien van een camera met 10x optische zoom, zo heeft OPPO Nederland afgelopen week bevestigd. Op MWC 2019 zal de eerste OPPO smartphone met een dergelijk optisch zoombereik geïntroduceerd worden, dit wordt waarschijnlijk de OPPO F19 / F19 Pro.
De OPPO F19 en F19 Pro lijken tevens de eerste OPPO smartphones te worden met een punch-hole camera ontwerp. Volgende maand horen we ongetwijfeld meer over deze Chinese fabrikant. MWC 2019 vindt plaats van 25 februari tot 28 februari 2019 in Barcelona, Spanje.

Last year the Chinese smartphone manufacturer OPPO was among the first to introduce a full screen smartphone, the OPPO Find X. To integrate the selfie-camera the smartphone was equipped with a pop-up camera. In the meantime manufacturers like Samsung and Huawei have announced a full screen smartphone with a punch-hole camera design. It is believed OPPO will launch a similar looking smartphone in 2019.
A newly published patent shows OPPO may be planning to integrate various app icons next to the camera hole. On January 18, 2019, two patents of OPPO Guangdong Mobile Communications were published in the Global Design Database of WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office).
The design patents entitled ‘Mobile phone with app icon interface’ show a full screen OPPO smartphone with a punch-hole camera. The selfie camera is placed in the top left of the display. To the left and in particular to the right of the camera hole, the OPPO smartphones displays various app icons. A total of five icons are shown, one of which is for the front camera.
By making a swipe movement at the top of the display the icons will appear. Users can scroll through the icons, allowing for more app icons to appear. The camera icon will always stay in the same place.
